Your Defense -- Aggravated Battery Charges

Unlike the charge of battery which, if not charged as an ordinance violation, is a misdemeanor offense, the charge of aggravated battery is a felony offense with a possible sentence to the Illinois Department of Corrections.  The Illinois aggravated battery law encompasses a wide array of alleged criminal behavior and divides itself into seven major categories. These categories include acts of aggravated battery based on:

--Type and severity of the injury caused
--Location where the aggravated battery occurred
--Status of the victim
--Use of a firearm
--Use of a weapon or other device
